Special remarks:
The GenFlow Borrelia plus test kit is a molecular system for the isolation, amplification and qualitative detection of DNA specific for species of the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato - complex. This test system does not allow the differentiation of the detected species.
The GenFlow Borrelia plus test kit detects the DNA of the bacteria directly in the sample material. The test consists of three modules: a) isolation of DNA from the sample material b) amplification of a DNA fragment with polymerase-chain-reaction (PCR) und c) detection including internal sequence verification by probe-hybridization on Lateral-Flow Dipsticks (LFDs).
With every test reaction an additional internal amplification control is co-amplified and detected. This control verifies the validity of the amplification reaction and indicates a potential inhibition caused by the sample material.
This test kit may prevent false-positive results caused by amplification products displaced into the pre-PCR area. This is the most common way of contamination in a PCR lab. The enzyme uracil-DNA glycosylase (UDG) digests contaminating amplification products before the PCR.
The required hot-start polymerase prevents the formation of unspecific reaction products before the start of the amplification. It gets activated by a longer incubation at 95°C in a thermal cycler.
Sample materials could be urine, synovial fluid, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) or ticks.
ATTENTION: Results with ticks must not be the only indication for a following therapy !
